Corporate Spotlight:

Heartland Coca-Cola
Strengthening the health of our community

“Our industry and products center around moments of joy. We know that life isn’t always perfect. But we try to bring joy to family and friends, even when they are worried or in discomfort,” said Norman Ross, vice president of public affairs and communications at Heartland Coca-Cola. “Partnering with The University of Kansas Health System allows us to play a part in many of these moments and, hopefully, make them a little brighter.”

Heartland Coca-Cola, located in Lenexa, Kansas, employs 2,100 employees within its 17 facilities, including a production and bottling plant. The company, which is in its second year after a corporate restructuring, distributes Coca-Cola products to most of Kansas and Missouri and two-thirds of Illinois. As a Coca-Cola bottling facility, Heartland is one of the top 10 in the nation. While soft drinks are the primary Coca-Cola products, the beverage company also sells healthier options, including sports drinks, water and coconut water.

“Our partnership with The University of Kansas Health System was an easy decision for us. Many of our partners are affiliated with the health system, and it fits into our plan to support and build the community,” said Ross. “We hope to bring awareness to many health issues and celebrate and honor those individuals who have survived serious illness or are currently being treated. To us, it’s important to help out in any way we can.”
